Dr. Christine McGinn
Dr. Christine McGinn is a Plastic Surgeon who specializes in transgender surgeries, both male to female and female to male. Having undergone her own transition in 2000, McGinn is an expert on Transgender issues and an activist, working hard to raise awareness, understanding, and acceptance of transgender peoples.
McGinn worked as a Flight Surgeon in the US Navy for nine years before her transition in 2000, and has since had twins with lesbian partner Lisa. Lisa and Christine are the biological parents of the children, Eden and Lucas, because Christine had the foresight to freeze samples of her sperm.
Following her transition, Christine McGinn founded the Papillon Gender Wellness Center. The Center began as a web-resource for people undergoing treatment for Gender Reassignment, and opened in 2007 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania as a competent, affordable, and comprehensive care resource.
In addition to running the Papillon Center, McGinn works at two hospitals in the Philadelphia area and assists university medical programs in training students and faculty alike about transgender medicine. Through her work at the center, Dr. Christine McGinn has lectured at high schools, businesses, and at LGBT awareness programs.
Dr. McGinn has been featured in several documentaries, including a special during the Oprah show during its final season. She was recently interviewed in an Anderson Cooper special on transgender issues, helping him to understand the medical and psychological aspects of transgender people.
